Butterfly Costumes for Cheap!

So -I know Halloween is over and I didn’t get this posted!  But I thought that I would put it up anyway, since I went to the trouble of taking all the pictures.   I love putting together the costumes for my kids.  Having 2 boys and 2 girls means I get to experiment with LOTS of ideas.  This year Raylee wanted to match Zoe and, of course, they had to have something pretty.  So we discussed princesses, and fairies, but soon came to a consensus that a butterfly would be the choice.  Mainly because Zoe put on the wings at Wal-mart and then refused to take them off!

I Looked at the little tutu skirts for the butterfly costumes and decided rather quickly that I wasn’t paying 14.88 for the skirt I could *probably* make at home.  So with a thought in my head, and a whole bunch of tulle, I began the process of making the girls skirts myself.  Here’s the “How To”

I bought 2 pair of wings and a set of makeup for Matthew to paint their faces.

I added up what I spent on the girls costumes:  4.97 for each set of wings.  1.98 for the makeup.  I got Raylee and Zoe’s sequined tank tops at the quarter shop for (obviously) .25.  They had to wear long pants and turtlenecks under them for Halloween because it was so cold, but they were adorable.
